Charter
Our History and Our Future
BloodLine was founded a few years ago in Lord of the Rings Online and later continued in AoC, Warhammer, WoW, AION, DCUO, Rift and now SWTOR as well. Along the way, we have been selective in our membership and have created a fun and challenging community for like-minded players. On top of the MMO games listed, we also spend time in FPS and RTS games on a regular basis as well. The majority of our members are looking for PVP first and foremost, but we have a strong PVE contingent playing with us too.
Is BloodLine the home for you?
We’re out to have fun above all else, we also look to improve ourselves everyday in everything we do. We expect our members to push themselves in each game we play, while maintaining a reputation of being both fair and competitive. We strive to accomplish great feats together and meet each challenge with full intensity. Most of us would be considered “hardcore”, in the sense that we take our in-game goals seriously, but at the same time we are an older crowd, and we realize that jobs and family come first.
To be a member of Bloodline is to continually become better at whatever rises to challenge us. The development of this charter was made with these goals in mind. Our application process is and will remain selective to ensure our future success and a mutually shared goal between guild and member.
What We Expect from Our Members
BloodLine is a mature guild that has been around for some time now, along the way we have built a community based on loyalty, trust and respect. One component to making a guild/community stable and successful is ensuring that others perceive us in a positive light. No drama might sound nice, but it includes how you act in and outside the guild groups, as well as within guild only groups. Our expectations are high for a reason. We want every group you join to be a recruitment tool, and every non-guild member to walk away saying “WOW, I want to join those guys!”
Although we all have a competitive spirit, we want to have as much fun as possible; this is a game after all. We expect all of our members to treat each other in a manner they would want to be treated themselves, and outside members of the guild even better than that. Every member must remember that they are a representative of the guild everywhere they go. Every member is also asked to Raid if the game calls for it. If something comes up and you cannot raid on a day we have it planned, no problem. We also expect every member to want to raid with their main if they are online and needed (if you have the time to commit). Please use the schedule on the website to RSVP for events so we can plan accordingly.
Communication
Perhaps the most important element of creating a strong community is overcoming the great barrier of communication. This can be accomplished by following some simple steps that we will detail further below.
Ventrilo: Blood Line requires every member to have Ventrilo installed. You do not have to speak, but it is often helpful for coordination. If you do not know how to install or use this program, contact an officer and they will help you.
The Website: We want to encourage all of our members to stay very active on our website. This is critical in our efforts to keep a multi-gaming community active.
The forums are a great place for people to share information not only on quests and game updates but also to share funny stories and pictures. This is also the place where ideas should be shared and even controversial issues should be discussed. We are totally democratic and the best way to share your ideas with every member is to put them in writing on the forums.
The Calendar tab will be a key part of our daily checklist for members to take part in down the road. Raids will typically be scheduled at least a week in advance and we encourage all of our members to sign up for the raids that they feel they can attend. There is no penalty if a person signs up and is unable to attend, but we ask that if this occurs, that an officer be notified ahead of time if possible. When our members sign up for raids, it provides the officers with an important head count that will help determine if modifications need to be made to the schedule.
Leadership
BloodLine is a democracy, of sorts. We have two tiers of officers here, a group of “lifers” that has agreed to do the administrative grunt work, and a set of officers for each game we play. There is no one leader or head of BloodLine, and all officers have the same say on any policies or decisions. Put simply, the officers are the folks who wanted to roll up their sleeves and help with the responsibilities each game demands. This system was put in place to ensure the overall stability of the guild, as well as to keep the people that are passionate about a game in positions where they can create success.
The Raid leader will assume a “Leader of Leaders” role for that raid. He/she will coordinate with officers on important issues, but the final say is up to the Raid leader on everything except loot distribution. This is to keep the raid moving and over-discussion of an issue from happening. If there is any issue with any officer or member with what the Raid Leader has declared on that raid, the forums would be the place to bring it up. No Raid Leader is above constructive criticism or new ideas, but there is a time and place to bring them up.
Bringing it all Together
Our goal is to be at the top in whatever game we play, and to be known for our integrity, honesty, and focus on unity. We have put years of experience into forming a system that we feel is more fair and rewarding to our members as well as ensure that we’re progressing at a steady rate. This document will be ever changing as it morphs to fit the needs and demands of our members. Thanks for taking the time to review our guild charter.
P.S. Though nobody likes asking for money, the simple reality is that there are monthly costs associated with providing the voice chat and web services for our membership. If you join BloodLine, please consider donating a few dollars to help keep these services available. Thanks!
